PEMBROKE CASTLE

Pembroke Castle is quite simply one of the largest and most impressive medieval castles in Wales. The Castle’s history is as vast and impressive as the walls and towers themselves. It was the seat of power in west Wales from the arrival of the Normans in 1093.

On your visit you can explore the labyrinth of passageways and towers, take in the views from the 75ft high Great Keep, and descend into the magnificent Wogan Cavern.  All this whilst taking in the Castle’s role in the Norman conquest, the power struggle between medieval Kings and the Welsh Princes, the rise of the Tudor dynasty and the bloody and ferocious battle that engulfed Pembroke during the English Civil War.

You can join one of the free guided tours that take place every day.  Here you can roam the castle in the company of our friendly and engaging experts.  You can enjoy lunch or a break in the Café, which offers a range of locally sourced and home-cooked meals, cakes and beverages.

Finally, the Gift Shop is a wonderful place to find that memorable keepsake or unique gift to take home from your visit, stocked with quality gift items, jewelry, toys and books.

The Castle is open almost every day of the year and is yours to explore.
